Costa Rica enjoys a privileged status as a destination for meetings organized by U.S. companies. Under United States Internal Revenue Code section 274 (h) and IRS Revenue Ruling 94-56, Section 274 (h)(6), Costa Rica is considered within the “North American Area” for deductions of conventions, seminars, or similar meetings in Costa Rica and for individuals attending such meetings.
