Travel to Costa Rica is now extremely easy, since major airlines such as American, United, Delta, US Airways, Air Canada, Avianca/Taca, Copa, Interjet, and others offer daily flights from the nerve centers of the United States and Canada to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), ranked as one of the best according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in its annual passenger survey report.

Other international airlines such as Iberia and Condor offer direct flights from Madrid and Frankfurt. And major European airlines offer connecting service from Europe via Atlanta, Houston, Miami and New York. Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) receives regular international flights served by American, Copa, Delta, United, Avianca/Taca and JetairFly, with nonstop flights from Miami, Atlanta, Houston and Toronto. Additionally, this airport is conveniently located near beach resorts that continually receive groups.

National airlines with domestic service are SANSA and Nature Air. SANSA operates at both international airports and other smaller airstrips in country. Nature Air has its base of operations in the Tobias Bolanos International Airport, very near the city center of San Jose.
